IS TEACHING THE RIGHT CAREER FOR YOU?

Find out with a Paid Internship with the Get into Teaching Programme at Longcroft School

From the moment you start your internship at Longcroft School you will be supported by a qualified and skilled team of Teaching and Learning Professionals. Together they have carefully planned a programme that will immerse you in an unforgettable three-week experience. In brief, you can expect:

Classroom Experience where we will train you on how to observe a lesson to see the key elements being woven together to create a great learning experience,, that enhances our pupils lives and their educational outcomes. You will be invited to shadow pupils, work with small groups and by the end of the three weeks you will be team teaching elements of a lesson.

Pastoral Awareness is vital to building strong teacher pupil relationships and you will be attached to a form group to see the rewards that day-to-day engagement with children outside of formal lesson contexts can bring.

Subject and Professional Development is vital in such a dynamic career. Teaching and learning regularly changes and you will find out how important professional development and subject knowledge is, by working closely with your Heads of Department and Subject Mentors.

Teaching is not just about teachers; we are supported by invaluable colleagues in terms of our Teaching Assistants and SEND associates. You will spend time shadowing and working with these professionals to see how vital their roles are in supporting pupils in and out of the classroom.

We will also arrange for you to visit one of our trust Primary Schools so you can see how intrinsically important this teaching and learning is to a smooth transition for pupils, as they progress to their secondary education.

You will also have an opportunity to spend time with our trainee teachers and Early Careers Teachers, so you ask them questions about their teaching journey and experiences. Finally, you will meet and be linked to a member of our Senior Leadership Team, so you can see the bigger picture in terms of where your educational career both starts and the potentials of where it can lead.

This is an exciting insight into the world of education and being a teacher and I can guarantee that you will find this a truly rewarding experience. Ultimately Longcroft School’s internship programme is intended to be packed full of all the elements that you will need to enable you to honestly answer the question:
